Handicap Information

CWDGA Policy

CWDGA member clubs use the USGA Handicap System and their recommended computer service, (EZ Links Golf, Inc.), to assure uniformity of handicaps. The CWDGA provides its member clubs with current copies of The USGA Handicap System manual and The USGA Handicap System Reference Guide. Member clubs should thoroughly review and comply with all aspects of the USGA Handicap System.

Sections 4, 5 and 6 of The USGA Handicap System manual explains the procedures for adjusting and posting scores and keeping records. Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) is mandatory for all golf clubs issuing Handicap Indexes.

Every player is responsible for returning all acceptable scores, as defined in Section 5 of the The USGA Handicap System manual, made at her home course or away. Scores made at any golf course in this district during the inactive season may not be accepted for handicap purposes, but scores made at a golf course in an area observing an active season must be posted for handicap purposes, even if they are made during the inactive season in this district. See The USGA Handicap System manual, Section 6-2. The active season for the CWDGA is March 27 through October 22.

Scores made during the four CWDGA tournaments: Championship; One-Day Stroke; Better-Ball of Pairs and Senior Better-Ball of Pairs - are tournament scores as defined in Section 5-2e of the The USGA Handicap System manual and must be posted for handicap purposes. Scores posted for regular play dates at member clubs should not be designated as tournament scores.
